About Us

The Back Yard

We have a beautiful, park-like five acre clearing set on 100 acres of timber and cropland, one-quarter mile back from a little-traveled road.

This is a private, quiet, beautiful place to get away from the world for a day or a week. Bring your tent or RV, or tie your hammock to the trees and sleep under the stars.

There are trails through the woods, and hiking along the Ogeechee river. Family reunions and group events are welcome.

There is hunting in the area, and good fishing in the Ogeechee river two miles away. Nature walks with Ranger Dan.

We rent to only one person or group at a time, so you have lots of privacy – the place is yours.

The cabin is also for rent. It sleeps two in the queen-size bed, and another two on the hide-a-bed sofa in the living room.

Water and electric hookups are available. You’re welcome to use the washer, dryer, clothesline and outdoor shower.

Most cell phones don’t work out here, but if you’re in, or close to the cabin, we have a cell phone repeater tower that will give you three bars on most services.

Rustic, remote, private and quiet but easy to get to. One hour south of Augusta, GA, two hours west of Savannah.

Many people call it Edun.

Jim Carey's Cabin

The cabin was built in 1835. When Sherman’s March to the Sea
came through here during the Civil War the people were so poor that
General Sherman took pity on them and didn’t burn them out.
